Read our primer articles on Oil Analysis and Tribology

Hi,

I work as an oil analysis tech for a railroad company in Canada. My company is about install, on a couple of our locomotives, Cambridge viscosity's viscosity sensor in order to monitor viscosity in real time.

We want to evaluate this technologie in order to see if it is worth implementing of our entire fleet. I am wondering if some of you have already worked with it. How did it goes ? Any type of feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

JFG

Hi JFG
We have no experience with online monitoring large engines, the system should indicate coolant ingress, soot loading increase and fuel dilution, the key to this monitoring will be what limits you set and what follow analysis is completed once an abnormal viscosity trend line is detected.
We all will be interested on your thoughts on this after 3-4 months and will be keen to hear back from you on the subject,
regards
