Dear Colleagues, what are reasons for increasing of phosphorus in used oil samples? We test CAT oils (DEO 15W40 engine oil, TDTO 30, TDTO 50, FDAO 50 and Mobil oil as well) by ICP-OES. Oil were used in Caterpillar off-highway earth-moving equipment.

Dear Rob,
Actually we do not test our new oils. I saw that trend for used oils only sometimes from one sample to another.

Like Rob I would be interested to know if it is increasing over new oil. Has there been oil top up in between samples?
