Read our primer articles on Grease Guns and Oil Sight Glasses.

I am looking for a replacement for this product (Kluber NBU 8EP). It is used in a FFE Ball Mill at a coal burninig electric plant. The application is the Bin Vibrator motor bearings. Even if I could get a product data sheet would help. This grease is through the roof on pricing. If anyone has any information on this grease, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dear ShawLSI

I know about the grease. It's Berium complex grease blend with mineral oil. Since Berium complex is banned at many countries only Klueber Manufactures & market it. I can suggest you it's replacement but not one to one macting. I assuer you it will satisfy your application & provide better service to you. Please mail me on savvyeng@rediffmail.com

Hello ShawLSI,

I guess you're using NBU 8EP is due to the OEM's recommendation? In most cases, a normal EP2 or 3 will do. But depending on your motors operating environment and condition, a better performance grease is required for a longer re-lubrication interval.

Drop me an email if you need further info. I can provide you the info share with you further of our experiences (specifically in power generation and petrochemical industries).
On a related subject our electricians are looking for a quik reference chart for commonly used motor bearing greases grouped by type. ie all the lithium based greases from the various manufacturers on one sheet and all of the urea based greases on another. We get motors from various rebuild shops and vendors from both the US and Canada and they all seem to use different manufactors grease. Has anyone made up a chart or know of one out there?

Hi,
Can you please advise, what is operating temperature and bearing speed, diameter, so I can offer better alternative suggestions for lubes.
I make lubes that will outperform all others at very high loadings, and at very high temperatures.
Please contact me on jandm@blue1000.com.au, and I would be happy to advise futher.

Kluber are indeed special types of grease/lubricants. I have asked once or twice at their technical departement for more info, they were pretty helpfull by giving me two PDS sheets, which were very helpful.

It might be worth a shot, at least then you know the exact properties of the NBU 8EP grease, which should narrow down your search for a replacement product.
