Has anyone come across a standard for oil tank immersion heaters ? I'm looking for watts density recommended for 460cSt gear oil

and for answering your question, Maximum alloable Heater density for lube oil tank is not more that 15 W/in2.

Regarding this topic, one example could illustrate you the importance of heater design. If oil can't fully cirluate, it'll be overheated as the attachment. Meanwhile,it will lead to serious coke and smelly odor. So we must take care it.
