I would add that 3 of those R's are frequently, if not always, ignored : right place, right amount and right time.
People assume that by having massive lubrication everywhere at all times, they save themselves a lot of problems. In almost all applications, it's completely the opposite. We assemble and integrate micro lubrication systems in various industries and those 3 R's are at the core of our design work.
We have, time and again, eliminated problems that our customers had learned to live with because they thought they had to. We have also helped customers discover problems they didn't know they had (to much lubrication will often mask problems) and thus helped them further increase their productivity.
My recommendation is to take a close look at those 3 R's.
