Likely to cause foaming and thicken oil, so cannot see point, as with most aftermarket additives. Just buy a better oil at right grade for your use.

i used it in my 95 isuzu 3.2 dohc and it really calmed down some valve train noise.

Quit with the hearsay. I haven't seen it cause foaming.
But, it will thicken the oil. Some people like the Valvoline/STP/Lucas/motorhoney oil thickeners. I don't care for them.

If you need a thicker oil, step up one weight!

Agree . It will NOT cause foaming of the oil it's added too .
Using it in devices sealed with certain types sealants or using certain aerosol products around same will cause foaming though .

If you have an oil burner just use a step thicker oil like the above recomendation .

In a worst case scenario with thick oils (when not required) is that you will experience air entrainment and cavitation inside the bearings at high RPM.

Happy to be convinced otherwise as "thick" oils are used in UK.

all i know is i had all kinds of valve train noise - ticking - and the lucas stopped it.i even looked at the dipstick with the engine running and it shows no evidence of foaming.i know some will disagree-but i like the stuff.

I think there is more to it than it just being "really thick oil". It must bond to metal really well, because I had a valve train rattle that was horrible, and within a few hundred miles it was gone.

i know there are naysayers-but it worked for me too.my isuzu was making a loud ticking noise.so now i use it every time.

Give Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment a try and see if it also quiets things down.

I am curious as to what viscosity was the oil that you added the Lucas to?

castrol 10-40 .i dont use the high mileage kind because its missing a test designation.and i think its a bunch of hooey.hahahahaha.thats what you probably think about the lucas.but you should hear the before and after.it works.

forgot to add ive got 170000 miles on the isuzu.and fram filters are the worst on the market.use a purolator pure one.i read a lot of studies on filters and its a good solid design.and not pricey either.

I do believe Purolator is a good filter, but stopped using them because in Ford applications, most purolators do not have the Ford-preferred (as evidenced by the Motorcraft filter design) threaded end bypass valve. I am going over to use Wix filters exclusively. BTW, Purolator (or the parent company, can't remember which) was just sold, so we will have to see how the quality holds up.

As for high mileage oils, they can be a sham, but I believe it gives the oil company an excuse to offer an oil that is not constrained by the energy conserving and starburst requirements, most of which are not oriented to engine protection, but to fuel savings for the auto companies to avoid fines. To me, it's a great option.

ive held out trying them cause i think its just hype to sell a more expensive product myself.but in time i might change my mind.thanks for the headsup on purolator.
