No they aren't. Many allow price per gallon to be their only criteria for purchasing. Get the testing numbrs and evaluate them as a whole just like any other lubricant. Most of the biodegradable fluids wont protect as well or last as long as their non-bio counterparts. Schaeffer's Eco-Shield line offers incredible protection so you don't sacrifice performance and is readily biodegradable.

I believe you are looking for the following info. There are different base oils that can make up a bio fluid these days and they are not all the same. Mobil EAL 224 is a veggie oil and veggie oils ar a bad things with heat and moisture and can create a gummy situation in controls and valves. If you are on water it will also create a visible sheen. Synthetic Esters (Panolin)are superior to a veggie oil and will also show a sheen. Then you have PAG chemistry that can not create sludge gel or varnish and the water soluble products will not create a visble sheen on water.
