Dear all
we 'd been using Mobil TAC-D many years as wire rope lubricants at our water dam, it 's used to reduce friction as individual strands (wires) move over each other, and lubricate the core, provide corrosion protection, prevent moisture and dust entry and wear protection from rubbing with external bodies during operation.
But, later our supplier said that this lubricant is discontinued and suggested to use the other product.
Can any one help me to show what is Mobil TAC-D's new name or equivalent?

Thanks in advance.

there are other brands such as caltex and shell that have "asphaltic cut back open gear grease"

cardium is one I remember from shell they like most open gear and wire rope lubes are a havy asphalt cut back or diluted with a light solvent to thin the lube for application and penitration then the solvent will evaporate off leaveing the heavy lube in place.

Bruce, I thought most manufacturers were going away from the "asphaltic cut back open gear grease" because of the environmental issues with the solvent? Some of the replacement products I have seen lately are calcium sulfanates (sp) with a low moly content because of their ability to creep or flow into the wire ropes and gear faces. Are these being misapplied too?

Dean.
