Great question! My opinion FWIW:

Semi-synthetic should be the label for Group III.

Blend should be minimum 30 percent of the base oil. Example Valvoline Durablend (in USA anyway).

Part-Synthetic would be less than 30 percent of the base oil. Example Valvoline Maxlife (in USA anyway as we have it with 12-22% Group IV, but I think in Europe it has more synthetic).

Full synthetic should be Group IV and Group V.

But then what if an oil is 50% Group IV and 30% Group III (20% additives)? What do we call it? So maybe it would be nice if the bottle had a list on the back showing all five groups and a percentage to say the nearest 5 percent maybe.

Also, for Group V it should say what kind of Group V it is since there are several types in Group V.
I think group III should be defined on the label as ultra premium mineral oil .

Blends using it as ultra premium w/ oils of a lower classification .

Blends of it also using Pao called Pao w/ultra premium mineral oil .

Pao blends with exact amounts of each on the label ...... like processed foods Wink

Synthetic as true synthetic , who cares how much ester/pao mix ratio and just look at ACEA ratings and run it .
