Dear Sirs:
Would you please tell me that how to design the oil nozzles for the gear boxes? When we use a oil recircle lubrication system for gear boxes, the nozzles should be used in the boxes to supply the oil on the gear surface. Is there any special type of nozzle used in this field? Thanks and best regards.

Kinsson,
I am not an engineer but from what I have seen in the field (mostly on Navy Ships) the nozzles which supply oil to gear surfaces fan the oil supply out to cover the entire gear surface and spray direcly into the gear mesh. as the gears roll into mesh the oil is sprayed as to coat the gear surfaces before they mesh. You may need to provide more than one nozzle to get adequate coverage. The nozzles I have seen are made of brass or stainless steel and screw into the piping and are often lockwired to better ensure they do not come loose. They are removable to facilitate cleaning if they get plugged. If the system has some long and short runs then it may be necessary to balance the system with orifices to ensure adequate flow to the remote gear areas.
