Hi Steve,
The LNF software allows for sample dilution. You click on the dilution button and enter the ratio. You may find any sample with more than 3 or 4% soot causes processing problems. You can try diluting the oil with a clean solvent or white / light coloured oil. The diluent should have a count that is significantly lower than what you would expect from your sample. Solvent wise you could use filtered white spirits or kerosene. Just be aware that as the viscosity of the fluid going though the LNF drops it tends to use a lot more sample.
