Poly Eurea Greases

There has been much discussion at my company about the compatibility of the poly eurea greases with other types of grease. I am not the oil specialist here and I would like to find more information about the compatibiliy issues. Do any of you know of any links to articles or research on this issue?

Polyurea type greases are incompatible with most types of greases. These include Lithium and Lithium Complex greases which are the usual types used in the industry. Most oil companys have a compatability chart or their lube support people can be of help

according to chevron lubricants, polyurea thickeners "may" be incompatible with lithium, lith. comp.,alum. comp., calcium and calc. comp. and are incompatible with bentonite and sodium.

The best advice I can give is do the lab work. My organization has been hit hard with product line consolidations due to oil company mergers. Things to consider are the application for the grease, cost effectiveness of changing over and, like you have said, compatability. If the grease is to be replaced with a polyurea then have a lab do a penetration test with various percentages of new and old grease and compare it to 100% of both new and old grease. This test will give you an idea if they are compatable.
