Read our primer articles on Oil Analysis and Tribology

Hi Lex

We monitor 130 locomotives 1000-4000 hp and we had to gather this info up for coolant monitoring,
if you check Polaris Laboratories web site they have been kind enough to put a significant amount of coolant monitoring info up.

Cat, Cummings and Detroit also have worthwhile info on coolant monitoring which in turn will provide the info on what chemicals will change in the engine lube if coolant ingress occurs.
Check with the coolant suppliers and if they won't provide info on their product get a new sample and run it through a spectrographic analysis and the tell tale chemicals will be there for you to monitor in the lubricant.
