Read our primer articles on Oil Analysis and Tribology

what do you think is the normal rbot of presilsa 32? im getting "97 min" Eek is this normal?? .
i presume that rbot should be greater for good oils,ie according to the extend of refinement.

in one of the dicussions i saw that low rbot is acccompanied by high tan but the tan here is juz 0.08

Could any one say what is the range for rbot for other grade of oils?

Dear Hardy,

RBOT by it self is useless. Get the product data sheet from the manufacturer, or send a sample of the new oil to the lab for comparison. One rule of thumb (Ask the analyst) is that oil is usable down to 25% of new value.

Also TAN and RBOT are individually not informative. You need the new oil value. One rule is that TAN usually goes up with age, but not always. this depends on the oil you are using. Ask your lab analyst.

Good luck,
