I'm investigating changing our OEM compressor oil to an oil supplied by one of our existing lubricant suppliers. The compressors are an IR SSR-50 EP-75 and a Atlas Copco GR 200 G series. We are thinking of going to an LE product to cut down on the number of oils in stock and to cut costs. Does anyone have any experience with replacing IR Ultracoolant and A-C Roto-Extend products with another suppliers oil? Any input would be appreciated.

rgf12, I am quite familiar with the LE product. We have written a paper or two with them, and they do make a good product. There are several items to consider when shifting to another product. You need to ensure their on the list of approved lubricants by your OEM, whoever’s product you decide to use ensure they have ran or will run astm D7155 before mixing. We see a lot of varnishing in compressors and often can solve the issue without major cost. Whatever you decide to do I truly agree reducing lubricants if at all possible is a good thing. Please feel free to contact me if you should have any questions or would like more information on compressor lubricants.
