I find no forum discussion on SFR's Protecta Product.

OilCompanySecret.com

Can we please have some feedback on opinions of this product compared to Slick 50 which their sales rep compared it to in an email reply.

I would like to know if I should be recommending this product to my GREEN group at myspace.com/timfrentz

Thank you for any help you all can be here!

Neither of the previous reply's reviewed the product specs on the website.

This is a company product that goes into the FUEL and cleans injectors like new and lubs the gasket seals. They claim it improves mileage up to 20% by making your injectors clean like 95% new.

Please read the website info at: oilcompanysecret.com before replying. I really need some good feedback here about this product before recommending a $15 dollar a bottle/treatment product.

Thanks for any help you can be after reviewing the product website.
I have used Slick50 in the past and did not see any result. I used the products from SFR and did. I added their engine and tranny treatment and used the gas additive also. I have 2 vehicles. The 03 Dodge G. Caravan now has 244K miles. Before I averaged 20 - 21 mpg. Max was very sometimish 420 miles with about 1/4 gl remaining in tank. Afterwards, I average 23 mpg. 460 and more miles /tank easily. Thats about 10%. The other vehicle is a Lexus IS 250. I just drove from New Jersey to Florida and averaged 37 mpg. Is something wrong (very right) with this car?
I don't have the reliable sources on automobiles and oil I do with dogs. I have convincing information that dogs do fine on common brands of dog food without vitamin and etc. suppliments. Could it be that the oil companies are also putting in all the additives engines need? How many of you that have never used an additive, have had to junk a car because the engine failed?
Harle-

Well thats fine its obviously a choice some will choose to use and try additives and others simply won't.

Why use the oil recommended by the manufactuer?
Safety and security?
warranty awareness?
Brand loyalty?

VW as with all manufactuers have deals with the oil companies or they private label selling you VW motoroil which is nothing more then what you buy on the shelf as they bought it from the majors anyway putting VW's name on it soley increases the price to ridiculous levels.

Just because you use a motoroil that is recommended doesn't necessarily entitle you to the best possible outcome of lubrication.

There is only one way of telling and thats through oil analysis.

Screw MPG what about wear on the engine?

Most manufactuers have testing facilities that simulate when a part will wear out. Under normal driving conditions if Motoroil A is 200,000 miles or Motoroil B is 190,000 miles

Motoroil A =3.00 per quart
Motoroil B =2.00 per quart

Which will they choose?

There does happen to be a fine balance in the manufactering process we want the vehicle to wear out at a specified interval so we can sell the customer a new unit but we don't want it to wear out sooner then our competitor. Also we want cost effective lubrication that we can brand under our name and sell for high profit.

Additives are it.

Aftermarket additives may do the trick too at much lower costs as you're not paying all the extra licsense fees and brand royalties of using a BRAND SPECIFIC MOTOROIL.

Simply saying I use motoroil and don't use additives is simply lazy and what the internet calls BROSCIENCE. WiKI Broscience

If you truly want to learn what may or may not be better in oil try oil analysis.
www.sfrcorp.com sells kits on their website I just looked.

You need a baseline which would be your regular brand then another analysis with a different oil and another if you add additives another reading.

If you can present specific proof that only this brand or that brand is better through oil anaylsis then you have a legitmate argument at the consumer level.
Adding aftermarket additives to a modern oil is a crap shoot.

Craz z is off base.

Think about it this way, despite the fact that they do crow marketing crap about detergent and such, So what? the oil suppliers carefully blend their oils for performance, What do you know that they don't?

Can you prove it? 4 ball UOA, visc, ICP, etc?

Would you walk into a world class chefs kitchen and start throwing salt into everything? Why do the same for oil?

I still think the most green thing is good running condition, a great filter, and a good syn oil with an extended drain interval.
