Read our primer articles on Oil Analysis and Tribology

Hi,

Was the new oil of the same type and brand than the previous one?

I know that changing to an other type of oil, even if both oil are compatible, can cause gaskets sweelling. This would explain the presence of oil in the combustion chamber. I have heard from my oil manufacturer that this is particluary true when going back from synthetic to mineral. It seems that it can also happen when different additives package are mixed. I have heard also that most of the time, situation gets back to normal after sometimes.
Maybe someone could explain more deeply the phenomenon.

There are however so many things that would explain this smoke that it is just a guess. This might not even be oil related.
