I don't understand part B, but part A is totally dependent on your maintenance and condition of the injectors, timing of the injection (altitude specific), Quality of the diesel fuel, and temperature of the engine.

Each OEM will have their limits with respect to allowable soot in the oil eg Cummins, CAT, Detroit etc.. This must be looked at with other oil parameters such as viscosity, wear rates, TBN etc.. As for gases - not sure if you mean blow by gases. Again viscosity, TBN, TAN and wear rates are typically looked at.
