Read our primer articles on Oil Analysis and Tribology

Dear People

In our facilities in Spain, we are running oil analysis on site. Most of our equipments are steam or gas turbines.

However we are dealing with some reciprocate compressors in a Chemical Plant, where we need to analyze TAN values, and sometimes these values are expected to be higher than 7.

We have a portable TAN analyzer that provide us very good results in 0-6 mg (OH)K.

We would like to know if there is another technology for onsite TAN analysis for results higher than 7.

We wait for your comments.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks for your replies!

We are also running MPC and Ruler tests.

The idea of running TAN, is to detect the presence of corrosive gasses in the crankase oil of reciprocant compressors. We know that we could detect them by flash point, or other tests, but our customer wants to detect it with TAN Analysis. They know that TAN higher than 7 means that they have to change the oil.
