TAN value

Recently we got prob where TAN is high in new engine oil, is it possible due to belnder itself. All base oil, additive TAn value is <0.01..hope anyone can help me...huhuhu

Have you check the water content of your new engine oil by Karl Fischer method also?

Certain additives such as anti wear or EP additives will react with the reagents used for TAN measurements therefore there will an initial reading for TAN measurements. I have seen readings for diesel engine oils around the 2 to 3 mark. It is best to get the new oil analysed then use this as part of the bench mark to trend the used oil.
