I decided to implementing a color code system for oils in this mill.
I decided to use Oil Safe Container system since color-coding was established with these containers & it would assist in reducing voluntary contamination.
Once the lubrication personnel started using these containers, they complained of sore thumbs. When I investigated the issue the lubrication personnel were stating, "When we fill certain agitators or gearboxes that are shoulder high it was difficult to hold the release button on the Oil Safe lid." We modified the lids to accept a holding pin, which will lock the release button in the open position to allow flow. The holding pin is attached to a small chain, which is fixed to the lid.

That looks like an easily done common sense modification if you use those tops.

I have found that when filling equipment that is high up the Oil Safe Pump is generally an easier way to go as your not holding the jug up over your shoulders in an awkward position for extended periods of time while the oil runs into the unit. So we generally just use the pumps for most everything.

Completely agree on the pumps. The large pour spout lids are alright for for heavier gear oils and larger fill ports, but the pumps are one of the best additions we have made to our program.
