Hello All

We are trying to rationalise the usage of hydraulic oil across site. We want to use ISO 68 oil on our Enerpac units, however Enerpac says that this will cause safety issues and only their brand should be used which I am hesitant to accept.

Has anyone here tried using other oils apart from Enerpac brand oil?

Any feedback would be appreciated

Welcome...I'm sorry to report I have no experience with Enerpac oils. My research did not reveal anything particularly special about them. The HF series is an ISO 32 so using an ISO 68 would be to heavy. I don't know about consumer protection laws in Australia either. However, it has been my experience as long as you use an oil that at least meets the specifications laid out by the OEM, you should be fine. In this case Enerpac points out several times, a high viscosity index is required. I'm sure deeper research would reveal more. My recommendation would be Schaeffer's 254 ISO 32 if your using the HF series or Schaeffer's 275S ISO 32 if your using the TH LX series. The 275S could be used to replace both. My e-mail is www.schaefferoiltexas@gmail.com if you have additional questions.
Hi SSINGH08
Because Enerpac most can't predict what their equipment owners may substitute for their fluid they would have to make that statement but as Mr Morgan stated we are using the fluid to push with then any high quality hydraulic fluid of the correct viscosity should work fine, get an MSDS for Enerpacs fluid to confirm the fluid type and if a mineral oil then your proposed substitute should be OK "But" if in doubt run one system for 100 hrs in a non critical application and test the fluid and that should confirm all is OK, Regards Rob S, www.rttech.com.au
