Varnish in Gas Turbine

we are using Solar Turbine(MARS 1000) for Gas compression using Caltex R & O 32,R/H-14000 Hrs,
recently TAN value raise upto 0.84mg/KOH,
viscosity trends normal.
Analysis Frequency(Each Month)
IS there any chance to form Varnish?if so,how can we remove this?

Dear Feroje,

The increase in TAN value is warning towards the increased Oxidation process in the oil. This may lead to oxidation by products to form and deposit in the form of Varnish within the system. I would suggest you to share your Oil analysis report at my email address and I can suggest you the recommended corrective action.

When you send out your next sample ask the lab to perform MPC testing which will provide a clear indication of where you are at in terms of varnish contamination. If the lab returns an MPC result of 15 or more then you should start looking into varnish mitigation.
