Varnish potential test

Our company are working on the varnish potential test for oil recently. If someone can tell me why the ASTM D02 C01 mention to wait a minimum of 7 days before performing the membrane patch colourimetry test? Meanwhile, the gravimetric analysis is the same as patch test? What size of filter we should use?
