Hi,

Does anyone of the specialists here has some detailed information on these new VAG specs? I've already found some details on this location (german texts). I've also found 4 products which already have the approval:

Castrol SLX LongLife III, Shell Helix Ultra VX and Aral Super Tronic Longlife III (rebrand of Castrol?) and FUCHS Titan GT1 Longlife III SAE 5W-30.

Please share your info on these specs!

I found this at the Motul site plus Castrol just released info on a partnership with BMW about these new low phos oils described as clean technology . Looks like new 0w-40's will beome the norm for BMW . Not sure about the VW/Audi group but think probably 0w-30 there unless severe service indicates the need for 40wt.

Sorry I could be of no more help but these are new oils and specs . As time goes by more info will be found . It's all about emmissions though it certainly appears .

EDIT : I could not get the hyperlink function to work and the translated URL was long .... too long . Suggest going to the Motul and Elf sites .

Correct. This is the new SLX LL04 for the new Longlife 04 specification of BMW. There are several companies with an approval, some 0W-40, others 5W-30's. Here is an article on this product.
