anyone knows about determination of water content in bio-oil, please tell me the detail. I am going to use dean stark soxhlet extraction apparatus anyway.

If you want to find out a water content of 0.10% and above,then Dean Stark Apparatus is good.For below 0.10%,the Karl Fischer Method is better.

Exactly what Krishnakumar said, but would raise the minimum limit for accurate water testing by Dean&Starke to 0.5%. Some labs really struggle to get an accurate water measurement from Dean&Stark.

You could also look into water determination by using 'calcium hydride' - although not sure how it would react to a bio oil.
