The latest iteration of CompTIA Security+ Training in Detroit MI, the SY0-701, was introduced to replace the SY0-601 exam. Here’s what’s new:
1. Expanded Focus on Emerging Threats
The SY0-701 exam includes updates on threats such as ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS), advanced persistent threats (APTs), and zero-day vulnerabilities. These updates reflect the growing sophistication of cyberattacks.
2. Emphasis on Cloud and Hybrid Environments
With organizations increasingly adopting cloud and hybrid infrastructures, the new Security+ exam places greater emphasis on securing these environments. Topics like securing containerization, DevOps pipelines, and virtualization are now part of the syllabus.
3. Greater Coverage of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
Security+ now includes deeper insights into GRC, with a focus on frameworks like NIST, GDPR, and ISO standards. This shift underscores the importance of aligning security practices with regulatory requirements.
4. Updated Tools and Technologies
The exam includes coverage of modern tools like SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
