Atlas Copco GA15VSD ff (20hp). Still under warranty, OEM Roto-Xtend oil. I already had a stopper valve on the air cleaner side of the screw plastic casting crack and increase particulate count 22/18/13 and leaked 4oz of oil on bottom of machine. It was fixed and it is now 4 months later. Particulate count higher then normal 22/21/17 and Polaris Labs MPC varnish test is 47.6 out of 50 with 867 hours on oil. Element temps at 193 degs(set normal) I dumped the bad 865 oil and added Summit SH-46 that has the lowest "air holding" of the Amsoil compressor oil test.
I called Atlas in for this warranty issue on the stopper valve because of this and 3 drops of oil under the valve plastic casting. Since the machine was at 4000 total hours we installed new filter and oil/air sep. element. The tech pulled the valve and checked it/as I did and found no crack. No gasket, just a green O-ring to seal.
Oil level on restart was at 1/4 to 1/2 glass view and I could see the upper surface bubbles had a form of force field pushing away inner tank air bubbles. SO the tech said "it's a lot better, and looks normal. (NOT) After he left I added some more oil to get it to 3/4 to 5/8 to fill glass, so I can see the bubbles. SO the tech reported all is normal and well. I say NO WAY. Something is wrong with this machine and I will need to call the local district service manager and keep the hunt going. I assume he will say his tech says all is well. Here is the video. 3 other of our Atlas Copco's have zero bubble issues.
