Cleanliness of oil of 680Cst ?

In Hot Strip Mill of a steel Plant there are some tanks having oil of 680 Cst.
What cleanliness should be maintained and which parameters should be checked. Can we use filters of 10 micron or even 5 micron keeping in view that additives are not filtered out, specially Extreme Pressure Protection additive.

Best practice is to maintain the oil as clean as possible. Regardless of what rating of filter you use you won't remove the EP additives as they are blended into the oil.

The best way to filter 680cSt oil is

First heat the Oil in a day tank upto 80 to 90`C and then passing through centrifuge. You can use Alfa Laval machine for centrifuges.
