Copaslip in Oil Sample

I received a pump oil result back with over 1200ppm of copper.
The offshore mech is suggesting that Copaslip is to blame for the high copper content.
Is this a possibility? I have my doubts.

This is possible but more info is needed on what instrument was used to obtain the copper result. Some spectrometers can only detect particles that are very small (less than 10 microns). Try filtering the oil thru a filter pad and examine under a microscope. Also filter some copper slip thru a filter pad. You can then compare what you see.
