if the thickness of grease on the wire rope is 2 mm, the volume you need is 4.000*3,14*(0,004*0,125+0,002*0,002)/4 cubic meter. If the density is about 0,9 kg/m3, the amount you need is about 1,4 metric ton.
Due to environmental implications the trend is now to move away from Grease to Oil lubrication for as Wire Rope lubricant.
There are specific wire rope lubricants available in the market and they will help you arrive at the quantity required. My guess is you would be requiring half the quantity of Grease, when you switch over from Grease to the correct WR Lubricant.
