Grease cartridge storage

What is the proper orientation to store grease cartridges and loaded grease guns? (horizontal or vertical) And why? I'm getting conflicting recommendations.

I read somewhere that cartridges should be stored vertical. Take a hint from the manufacturer. The case I bought was packaged vertically.

Any comments from Noria? The indication from Noria's Machinery Lubrication Level I course is that the tubes and loaded grease guns should be stored horizontal to minimize bleed (NLGI best practice). I'm hearing different from the grease manufactures.
