Hi again,

hope there is somebody who can help me out with this one:

Does anybody know why the ATF SP-III (used in AT for Kia, Hyundai and Mitsubishi) is 'special'? Is it because of a special additive or test?

I did find some companies who can deliver SP-III products (like Amsoil, Diamond and SK), but I'm not looking to buy it, just for technical information and background on this specification. (No intensions to make a product either).

I believe it has some friction characteristics similar to those of Chrysler's ATF+3. I personally do not believe that there is any such thing as a universal fluid as Amsoil claims. I've seen the friction tests run on different fluids and the required friction for the internal clutches and bands is quite different.
