How do we specify limits for TAN for hydraulic oils.if i am getting a TAN of .5 for Azolla 32 is dat ok?

A TAN of 0.5 seems makes sens for this type of oil.
This means that your oil is still in good condition.
Limit should are usally put arround 1.5 for hydraulic oils.

An increase of 0.5 mgKOH/g from the original value may be a sign of attention. an increase of 1 point is a sign of strong oxidation and you should consider changing it.

You need to measure the TAN of the new oil then the used oil to determine if the increase is excessive.
Also look at for any increases in viscosity and oxidation of old versus new.
Hydraulic oils can vary in the TAN value depending on if they are purely R&O type or zinc antiwear based.

Is there a reason why the Limit for TAN in hydraulic oils is 1.5?
Yes, because the starting point of TAN (Fresh Oil) may be high. Some time it is started on 0.45 mg KOH/g
