For fire ressitant hydraulic fluid, must it be certify or conform to the factory mutual act? What is the purpose and is this a requirement before it can be used in the hydraulic system?

FR fluids can be water glycol, phosphate ester, polyol ester and PAG fluids. Granted water glycol and Phosphate esters are more fire resistant than the polyol ester and PAG products. FM (factory mutual)is saying they have approved those products for use if they insure your company. FM looks into how much damage can be caused if a fluid burns. Keep in mind any fluid under the right condition will burn.
